Welcome to the new PVD Code & Coffee website!
Our very first news post on V2 of the PVD Code & Coffee website is live!
Hello There!
Welcome to V2 of the PVD Code & Coffee website! There's a lot of new functionality that has been added to the website. The goal is to make this a community focused space where we share news in the tech world, information about our events, and offer a place for people to showcase their projects!
I'll go over everything new on the website and how stuff works in this post.
News
The News page will be where we share updates on events, announcements for the community, and more! We hope to use this as a way of keeping connected with the community, showcase other events happening in the area that people might be interested, garner feedback, etc. Right now, only the organizers have the ability to create News posts, however in the future we want to be able to provide an Author role to volunteers in the community who are interested in writing detailed pieces about their projects, various technologies, etc. As part of the News feature, we'll also be starting a new series of News posts:
Tech Brew
Tech Brew will be a biweekly post that will coincide with our biweekly events. We'll cover the latest tech news over a two week period, and try to pose questions/topics that can be brought up during the events. This will be posted by one of the organizers as part of our event preparation. If you ever have any ideas for news you think we should mention for an upcoming event, please let one of the organizers know on Discord!
Accounts
With V2 of the website, we now have user profiles for PVD Code & Coffee. You can Sign In on the navbar by using your GitHub account. Currently GitHub is the only OAuth provider we're supporting due to the tight integration we have with GitHub for the Projects section of the website, but this might change in the future. You can go to your profile once you're signed in by clicking on your profile picture in the navbar and selecting "My Profile". There, you can update your Bio, and see all of your projects.
Projects
The Projects page showcases what people in the community are working on! Once you're signed in, you can create a project by importing one of your GitHub repositories, adding some tags and a description, and providing any relevant links. We'll be expanding on this functionality at a later date, right now it's just a means of compiling and highlighting all the projects that the PVD Code & Coffee community is working on.
Feedback
If you have any feedback about the website update or any of the features, please reach out to us on Discord! We'll try to squash any bugs as quick as possible.
